Not Really A Nay Or A Yea-Sayer: Since
it's a hit, it's about America, of course. And after all we've been
through, we deserve him. Nay-Sayers: The
more that he bores you... You have to admit that Moz always knows how
to get the guitars rolling behind him, even on a dopey, almost formless
neutered ramble of a song like this. Perhaps to show Suede just who
is the true master of the glam racket, the fuzzed-up guitars on here
are pure Ronson (rumour has it they're Mr. Marr, if you can believe
that), although they tumble into the crap picking style of Nilsson's
version of 'Everybody's Talkin'' in places. Shurely no mishtake, since
'Used To Be A Sweet Boy', also here, is a dreary, countryish ballad. |
