Morrissey's legendary first solo show at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall, December 22, 1988. The show was free - the price of admission was to wear a Smiths t-shirt - and only half the fans who travelled to Wolverhampton actually made it inside the venue. The show was intended as both an opportunity to film a video for The Last Of The Famous International Playboys, and as a goodbye to The Smiths, as Morrissey was backed by Mike Joyce, Andy Rourke, and Craig Gannon. (In the end, the footage wasn't used for Playboys.)

Morrissey's "Boxers" tour comprised a number of British dates in spring, 1995. Morrissey was pretty much bonkers during this tour, taking to the stage with fake bruises, cuts, and bandages - aka the "Boxer" look - while wearing bland suits. The video "Introducing Morrissey" was shot during the Boxers tour. Hull City Hall, Guilt By Implication |
The Maladjusted tour occurred in the fall/winter of 1997. During this tour, Morrissey changed up his normal stage style quite considerably - with rather dismal results. First of all, goodbye quiff! He cut his hair very short at the advice of a friend, who had no taste, obviously. Secondly, he "dressed up" (by Moz standards) for the shows in nice slacks and shirts and heeled shoes. It was like watching Tony Bennett or something. Not a pleasant memory...
